Fresh Quarry is one of Rockstack's signature moves, which it starts with at level 1. It costs 3 beats and has the following effect when played: "Gain some sorta fancy rock (gember or oobsidian or droostral)."
Details
When played, Fresh Quarry randomly selects either an Oobsidian, a Gember, or a Droostral to add to your inventory. Each item has an equal chance of being selected (one-third, or 33.3%). The animation that Rockstack performs when you play this card will briefly show which item was created. It does not matter whether you win or lose the battle afterwards; you get to keep the new item forever, and you will be able to see it in your inventory after the battle.
Strategy
This card does not help you win your dance battles, but it instead allows for what is perhaps the most efficient method for gaining Gembers and Droostrals, which are both otherwise quite rare. You will also get a bunch of extra Oobsidian while performing this method, but that item is much less rare, so you should only really do this if you are trying to get the other two. Here is how it is done:
- Get as many Rockstacks as possible for your dance battle team (up to 6).
- Ideally, you want all of your Rockstacks to be level 1 or 2 in order to maximize the chance of drawing Fresh Quarry every turn.
- Find a wild Ooblet herd that will start a 6v6 dance battle.
- 6v6 is best because you start with 6 cards in hand every turn, thus maximizing the chance of drawing Fresh Quarry every turn.
- Make sure the requirements for initiating the dance battle are using items that you have plenty of. For example, if you have lots of extra Planklets, then a herd of Lumpstumps would be a good choice.
- Ideally, you want the opposing team to be weak at winning the battle on their own so that you can play the full 9 turns. A good selection would be Ooblets whose signature moves do not help them gain points, such as Plob, Whirlitzer, Hermble, Snurfler, and Lickzer.
- Ideally, this herd should be close to the entrance to a building so you can reload the zone quickly (more on this in a later step).
- Start the dance battle, selecting your team of 6 Rockstacks (or as many as you have).
- Every turn, play Fresh Quarry if you drew one.
- If you did not draw one but you did draw Rig-a-Jig, play that and see if you are lucky enough to draw a Fresh Quarry with it.
- If you drew 2 copies of Fresh Quarry and you also drew a card that gives you an extra beat (such as Rhythm & Grow), play both copies.

- End your turn without playing any other cards.
- Keep repeating steps 3-5 until the battle is over. You are going to lose or flee the battle.
- Ideally, you want to play all 9 turns to get the most items you can. Otherwise, play until the opponent wins.
- If the opponent has not won before your last turn, you can save a few seconds by fleeing after you play your last turn so you don't have to wait and watch them play their cards.
- Reload the zone. Because you lost the battle, the wild Ooblet herd you just battled will respawn as soon as you reload the zone.
- The fastest and easiest way to reload the zone is to enter and exit a building.
- You can use other methods if the buildings are far away. Anything that forces you to go through a loading screen should work. This includes flying on the hot air balloon or saving, going back to the main menu, and loading your save file again.
- Start another battle with that wild Ooblet herd.
- Repeat steps 3-8 until you are satisfied with the amount of fancy rocks you have gained.
You can usually get 8-10 rocks per battle this way, and it only costs is whatever you spent to start the battle. One of the big benefits of this method is that in-game time does not pass while you are in a dance battle, which means you can repeat this dozens of times in a single in-game day if you want. It also means it's a great way to get some last minute rocks in a pinch without having to worry about too much time going by. For example, if there's a gleamy Gloopy Long Legs today, you're all out of Gembers, and none have spawned in Nullwhere, you can use this method to get the Gembers you need without stressing about whether enough will spawn in time before you need to sleep again.
